1 Day Trip From Marrakech

Enjoy an incredible 1 day trip from Marrakech to the unique Afagay desert

For this 1 day trip from Marrakech, we will be leaving the red city Marrakech at about 9.00 am, headed to the Agafay desert located just 40 Km outside of Marrakech. This excursion is considered the closest you can get to an actual desert trip without having to travel to Merzouga or Zagora, which both require more time than just a 1 day trip from Marrakech.

While the Agafay desert may not contain sand dunes that look like the ones at Erg Chebbi, this alternative is not only closer in distance to Marrakech, but also has its own unique traits and characteristics. Its white rocky dunes stand tall and contrast the Hight Atlas montains in the backround, offering an incredible picture-perfect landscape.

On our trip to the Agafay desert, we will have stops to enjoy the cool air, amazing landscape, and small Berber villages. Seriously, the road trip to this desert is just as fun and interesting as the final destination itself. Besides, driving through the High Atlas Mountains is a desirable journey in and of itself. We will make a quick stop on the plateau to take in and enjoy splendid views of the 7 Km long Lalla Takerkoust Lake, which stretches all the way to the foot of the Atlas Mountains. On our break, we can enjoy drinking mint tea, in true traditional Moroccan fashion.

The Agafay desert tour gives you the chance to enjoy a quads biking adventure, and experience a Camel ride through the rocky desert of Agafay. In Addition to this, you also have the option of camping with an amazing view under the starry sky of the Atlas mountain desert.

Your day ends with a drive back to Marrakech.
