2 Day Morocco Desert Trip

Day 1: Fez–Ifrane–Azrou-Erfoud–Merzouga

While it’s still morning, we will be leaving the rush and cruelty of Fez behind and going to the quiet little village in the middle of the desert Merzouga. Cross the Mountains of the Mid-Atlas, which are home to the biggest cedar forests in Morocco where you might observe some of the endangered Barbary Apes that lives in these forests. And rich of its dazzling Amazigh culture from traditional wear to their fascinating culture. The Atlas nature expends from the southeast to the northeast of Morocco, in the range of 350 kilometers of space making them the largest chain of mountains in the country.

You will pass via the city of Ifrane, which is located at a height of 5,460 meters above sea level that triggers athletes from around the world to settle their training camps over there. This town is also known as the Moroccan Little Switzerland because of its architecture and the fact that it is one of the cleanest cities in and the country’s most exclusive ski resorts in the world. Then heading to Azrou city, a lovely town with ancient history in the Atlas Mountains, our itinerary will contains both these cities.

Drive via different communities and cities like the city of Apples Midelt and the historic city of Erfoud as you cross the Ziz Valley and its magnificent  huge gorges. Continue on a dusty road through the desertic views till you reach Merzouga city from Erfoud.

While the sun sets, climb aboard a camel and be swayed from side to side as you take in the infinite golden dunes. Your destination is a traditional Moroccan desert camp, where you will dine on a delectable Moroccan dinner and sleep in a cozy Berber tent beneath the stars.

Day 2: Rissani – Ziz Valley – Middle Atlas – Fez

In the early morning, you will be waking up to sit on top of a dune to enjoy a the spectacular sunrise that might be the best sunrise of your life. After that, board a camel and ride back to Merzouga, dipping your soul into the magical golden color of the sand seas, and there you will be served breakfast and given a refreshing shower (depending on the type of camp, breakfast and shower might be before the camel ride).

You’ll stop in Tafilalt and the historically rich city of Rissani on your way back to Fez. The city where the alaouite dynasty which is the current ruling family in Morocco was founded, which has an interesting history, that you will be able to explore and discover through our visit. You will enjoy the old architectural designs of the old city, and each of its historical monuments has its own story. You will be making a stop in the forests of Azrou to have fun with the endangered apes that lives in the forest and feed them.

Now that you dove into the spiritualities and the history of the medina. The late evening will close the tour’s curtains in Fez.
